Swing Dance Workshops Print E-mail

Workshops are a great way to learn a lot of swing dancing in very little time.  In just 2 or 3 hours you can give your skills a boost, try out a new style of dance, or start from scratch and jump start a new hobby.

Workshops & crash courses pop up all the time, so be sure to check back often for the most up to date schedule.  Also become a fan of SwingColumbus on Facebook and stay in touch with the Central Ohio swing dancing community.

The Boogie Routine is a “sampler” routine consisting of classic solo jazz movements from popular Lindy Hop routines: The Big Apple, the Tranky Doo, the Frankie Manning Shim Sham, and the Dean Collins' Shim Sham.  Mark and Shannon have performed it several times recently, and now you'll be able to join in!  (The video at left is an example of solo jazz, but not specifically this routine.)

This workshop is open to all skill levels, but it is a great advantage to have some experience with jazz dances such as The Shim Sham.  Mark and Shannon will move somewhat quickly through the material, so you might not catch everything, but if you're game you'll still have fun trying!

The Boogie Routine is danced to “Good Rockin’ Tonight” by Wynonie Harris, Choreographed by Mark Calkins
