Does anyone still run this? It no longer lists any kind of owner or moderator, and as it followed suit to Sugarfoot it requires moderator approval for emails to go to the group.

I believe Chul and Baer were overseeing it for a while, but it appears they've both left.
I ask because I'd like to spread the word about the swing events around town, but my emails aren't going through.

Thanks for any info!

That group has been dismantled and is no longer used. The forums and the Facebook Fan Page are your best options. Swing's the Thing and Cindi Black have been posting their events on the Facebook page on occasion I don't know if I've seen Rick post Silky Ray events yet.

Okay. The group is still up, by the way. If it's not being used, it would be wise to remove it completely so that the email addresses aren't just sitting there ripe for spamming.

How do you forward events to people without facebook accounts?

I think Aleks was one of the admin on that list. I'll have him make sure it's closed down. It's moderated thought, so no spam should be getting through.

We have a newsletter that you can sign-up for on the bottom of the home page. That would be the other way we get info out.

Can other people post through the newsletter? That was a benefit of the yahoo group, others can post about events. (Obviously, they can on Facebook, too.)

Nope. The newsletter is for messages from the organization. The forums and Facebook are for the community to share swing related items.

the post-through on the yahoo group was awful for admins because they had to see gazillions of spammy messages or waaaay out of town events to find the one good ones to forward.

with our newsletter method you can still get an event noticed by posting or submitting a calendar event- the only thing is it won't get sent on to everyone unless it looks like a solid dancing opportunity and we're reasonably confident that dancers will attend the event.
